GKPF is actively involved in the development of Information Society through WSIS Forum
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is a unique two-phase United Nations (UN) summit that was initiated in order to create an evolving multi- stakeholder platform aimed at addressing the issues raised by information and communication technologies (ICTs) through a structured and inclusive approach at the national, regional and international levels. The goal of WSIS is to achieve a common vision, desire and commitment to build a people-centric, inclusive and development-oriented Information Society where everyone can create, access, utilize and share information.
Throughout the years, GKPF has taken an active role in the WSIS Forums. GKPF also enables members to get involved in the WSIS Forum participation.Several topics that become the key focus of the forums are as follows: new gTLD’s and Internet Governance, Child Online Protection and E-readiness and Capacity building.
GKPF participation in WSIS Forums is in synced with the core values of the foundation and would be beneficial for the members.
The WSIS Consultations will open on the 8th of October 2012. We would like to consult with the GKPF members on which topics you would like to see addressed in the WSIS Forum and which contribution you can make. So far the themes of new gTLD’s and Internet Governance, Child Online Protection and E-readiness and Capacity building seem to be emerging. The plans regarding each of this topic will be available over the next weeks and month but we are open to your further suggestions and contributions.
How to contribute?
