GKP Event on the Future, Third Global Knowledge Conference, GK3, is a platform created by and for stakeholders from every sector - private companies, governments, international institutions and civil society groups. Gathering over 1,700 global visionaries, innovators, practitioners and policy makers over 3 days to debate on the development and human dimension of ICT, GK3 successfully engaged participants in intensive discussions on how the threads of emerging people, markets and technologies will intertwine to deliver the future.

The GKP International Forum: "Creating Prosperity through Innovation: ICT at Work in Development" (IF06) successfully brought together 178 participants from 36 countries across the globe to exchange knowledge in vibrant, innovative conversations.

 

GKP International Forum 2005, Cairo, Egypt

Advancing ICT Solutions for Development through Cross-Sector Partnerships

With a Special Focus on the Middle East and North Africa, Cairo 4-5 May 2005.   The Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) organised, for the first time, an International Forum on cross-sector partnerships for the advancement

of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) solutions for development. This event was co-organised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Egypt-MCIT) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham), and co-sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), the Swedish International Development Cooperation (Sida), the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Microsoft, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the International Development Research Center (IDRC).


GKP Forum & Pavilion @ WSIS 2005

GKP Main Panels consisting of 8 events.  Cluster Events where thematic & regional clusters of GKP members collaborate together. There are 11 cluster events planned.
GKP Member Events were organised by individual GKP Member and more than 16 GKP Members had such events planned.
 

GKP ICT4D Platform @ WSIS 2003

ICT for Development (ICT4D) Platform, 9-13 December 2003.  With the arrival of about 38,000 visitors, the global village at Geneva's Palexpo grew into a town reflecting the overwhelming interest in the development aspects of information and communication technologies (ICT).  The Platform, co-organised by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP), which was opened on Tuesday by Swiss Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey, is the single largest event at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) at Geneva's Palexpo. The Platform which ran under the slogan 'Connecting people for a better life' attracted more than 250 organisations from around 80 countries. It brought together government agencies, civil society groups, private sector companies, donor agencies and inter-governmental organisations. The aim of the platform is to showcase projects and solutions, debate issues related to ICT for development and to trigger future-oriented, innovative partnerships and initiatives.

GK'97: Knowledge for Development in the Information Age, 1997 Toronto, Canada

In June 1997, development stakeholders from 144 countries came together for the first Global Knowledge Conference (GK97) in Canada. Hosted by the World Bank and the Government of Canada, and supported by a large group of public and private organizations.    GK 97 Program
