The ‘2012 Africa-EU Cooperation Forum on ICT’ is designed to anyone with an interest in Euro-African collaborative projects on ICT. The Forum will be held on November 28-29, 2012 Centro Cultural de Belem - Lisbon, Portugal. It is organized by the EuroAfrica-P8 EU/FP7 funded project in the framework of the Euro Africa-ICT Initiative and with the support of the National Science Foundation (FCT) of Portugal. The Forum will feature various session types:
1- Plenary sessions (featuring officials from the European Commission, the African Union Commission, Governments, and internationally acknowledged e-Infrastructures experts)
2- Presentation sessions (organised around the main conference themes)
3- Discussions and debates sessions (offering participants the opportunity to actively contribute to the Conference outputs)
4- Networking sessions (aiming at facilitating additional and informal networking opportunities).
The event objectives
1- It is held under the aegis of the EC, the AUC and the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership, the Forum will be an event filled with discussions and debates, networking opportunities and knowledge sharing among key stakeholders in the field and policymakers coming from all over Europe and Africa. Contributions are welcomed from European and African players across the entire ICT sphere and are intended to reflect ongoing technological advances and capabilities within R&D/ICT communities.
2- Reflect on progress made and lessons learnt on ICT research and development in Africa and its contribution through partnerships to economic growth, improved quality of life and efficient service delivery
3- Gain an insight on the status and perspectives of the "Africa-EU Strategic Partnership on Science, Information Society and Space" (the so-called Partnership 8) and support its action plans
4- Learn more about the status and perspectives of the EC and AUC research programmes
5- Enhance the development of Euro-Africa collaborative ICT research projects and identify potential partners
6- Highlight the range and excellence of ICT research in Africa and in Europe
7- Allow participative and interactive working sessions on ICT research and development through panel debates and interactive thematic sessions
8- Network with peers and key stakeholders in the field (private/public bodies)
9- Hear about opportunities to enhance African participation in FP7
10- Get detailed information on successful EU-African FP7 cooperation projects and EU-African PPP (Public-Private Partnerships).
11- Exchange views, share information, and identify synergies in order to increase the impact of their activities
