The Global Knowledge Partnership Foundation (GKPF) and Fondazione Rosselli Americas (FRA) Forge a Partnership Based on the Principles of the Knowledge Economy

(July 24, 2012) - The Global Knowledge Partnership Foundation (GKPF) and Fondazione Rosselli Americas (FRA) have joined hands to promote concerted efforts toward the construction of a knowledge based economy and society, where everyone shall have access to and use knowledge and information to improve their lives.

I strongly believe that through GKPF and FRA cross-cultural cooperation we will make a valid contribution to the updating of the international cooperation for development’s paradigm, in the present context of today’s Knowledge Society” said Mr. Danillo Piagessi, Managing Director of FRA. “The joined effort and expertise of GKP Foundation and FRA will no doubt bring us closer to advance the sustainable development that could serve as a building block towards the knowledge based society” said Mr. Klaus Stoll, the Executive Director of GKPF.

Today's global economy is in transition towards a Knowledge Economy, an interconnected, globalized economy where knowledge resources such as know-how, expertise and intellectual property are more critical than other economic resources such as land, natural resources, or even manpower. In today’s Knowledge Society, knowledge becomes a source of competitiveness, where value lies in new ideas, services and relationships, using technology as an instrument, not as an end in itself. Capturing and representing the value of such knowledge and introducing it as a factor in decision-making, is what the knowledge economy is about.

Fostering innovation and involving stakeholders from the public, private and third sectors, besides the academy and individuals, GKPF and FRA are now united to promote development and cope with today’s most pressing global issues.

GKPF and FRA intend to work in close collaboration, using their widespread complementary networks, not only to act directly on cross-cutting development issues, but also to enable those organizations, companies, governments, universities and individuals who are in constant contact with both organizations to start a global dialogue.

Through this overarching cooperative and collaborative effort, GKPF and FRA hope to create broader, more sustainable, inclusive and numerous partnerships for development.
