Mr. Torbjorn Fredriksson, Officer in Charge of the Science, Technology and ICT Branch of the Division on Technology and Logistics at the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), will serve as the resource person.
In his presentation, Mr Fredriksson will look at how countries can leverage information and communication technologies (ICTs) as a tool to promote private sector development (PSD). Drawing on UNCTAD’s Information Economy Report 2011, he will highlight some key global trends, discuss policy implications and especially consider the role of telecentres in view of an evolving ICT landscape, characterized by growing reliance on mobile solutions.
This webinar is under the eSpeak Series which seeks to engage stakeholders in discussion and sharing of knowledge and ideas that will enable them to come up with concrete identifiable actions towards developing stronger and sustainable telecentres. This will be the first of its kind for the African region.
About The Presenter.
Mr. Torbjörn Fredriksson is the Officer in Charge of the Science, Technology and ICT Branch of the Division on Technology and Logistics at the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He is among other things responsible for the annual Information Economy Report and UNCTAD’s work on measuring the information economy. The Science, Technology and ICT Branch also conducts national reviews of science, technology and innovation as well as ICT policies. Mr Fredriksson is the author of several books and has published articles related to international trade and investment in such publications as the Journal of International Business Studies, International Journal of Industrial Organization and the Journal of World Investment.He holds an MSc in International Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics.
